“Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in the Thirkield Science Hall by three undergraduate students—Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper, and Frank Coleman—and their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just. It holds the distinction of being the first international fraternal organization to be founded on the campus of a historically Black college. Guided by its four cardinal principles—Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift—the fraternity remains dedicated to the motto, ‘Friendship is Essential to the Soul.'”
